In Concrete Buildings

When told so - dreams feel impossible
Impossible when told and believed.
Before a tangle of webbed tales,
Dreams envelope a fantastical reality
One that ripples - shimmers -
In ethereal colour.
But here - in concrete buildings -
We are told what it means to listen -
Not believe.
Somehow - in concrete buildings -
We all believe not to listen
To the pulsing of a heart -
Beating since birth -
Its purpose in this life.
But here - in concrete buildings -
They suffocate you
With their stomps and their jeering
Your dreams become foolish -
Beneath plastered ceilings.
