From Life to the Living

She stood by the sea with rock in hand to join elements together. Air to guide earth to water. Fire to breathe calm into her lungs.

The rock bounced off the troughs in the sea. It sank out of sight, but she followed it in. Plugged nose, stinging eyes, grasping hands to find the right shape, the right texture. Her fingers wrapped around its jagged edge and tugged it upwards. She climbed from the dark into the light above.

She had from life to the living. Although, was water life or a gentle murderess? She cleared her thoughts with a press of the simple stone to her chest. She moved from water, to sand, to the fairground beyond.

Her footsteps washed into nothing.
